Construction management company ASA Construction Services pipped traditional construction companies to the post for the contract to complete R23-million worth of extensions to the Lonehill Shopping Centre.
And it has more than one reason to be pleased with the decision, says MD Simon Harwood. "Apart from landing the contract, we are delighted at the opportunity to apply CM to a project where traditional building procurement methods have already been tried.
"This gives us and the construction industry - a liveš test for the relative effectiveness of CM and the main contractor / sub-contractor system."
The additions and alterations to the Lonehill Shopping Centre include a new centre court, a new food and restaurant mall fronting on to Lonehill Loch to the north of the centre, and a new external mall facing the parking lot to the west, as well as new entrances and new floor finishes.
