Smoking up in luxury
25-May-99

Cigar afficionados in Rosebank will soon have a plush nightspot of their very own, where they can stoke up stogies and inhale aromatic secondary smoke to their hearts¹ content.

Simply named the Cigar Lounge, it will occupy a prime spot next to the piazza in the ritzy new TA Centre on Jan Smuts Avenue in Rosebank, and will be a distinctly grown-up venue, with sophisticated décor and soft lighting creating a quietly luxurious ambience.

In fact, says construction management specialist ASA Construction Services, which has been appointed to handle the installation and fit out of the Cigar Lounge, the new venue will closely follow the successful formula pioneered at the Macanu Cigar Bar in Menlyn, Pretoria.

This has already assumed something like club status for dozens of devoted upmarket clients, who go there mainly to sample an extensive range of Cuban, Dominican, Jamaican and Dutch cigars, as well as an excellent selection of ports and cognacs.

The Rosebank venue is expected to have the same sort of following and the good news for Johannians with a penchant for decent "Havanas" is that the planned opening date is less than a month away.
